Capture allows agencies to embrace a digital future and replace their paper notebooks and
diaries with a secure, compliant and accessible application, with full features of a commercial
note-taking application coupled with a robust evidentiary framework to ensure authenticity
and integrity. To create a new note using Capture Native Desktop Application, ensure you
are logged in and simply follow these steps:
- Click ADD NOTE icon located at the bottom right-hand side of your Home Page.
This will open a new note. - In the first field, create a meaningful Title for the note.
Note: If you do not create a Title, the note will be automatically titled [Untitled]. - In the second field, type your Note.
- Once you have created your note, you can apply a Privacy Setting, Protective
Marking, IMM/DLM, Unique Reference Number, Incident Location and
Event Tag/s.
Note: Unlike Capture Mobile, the Capture Native Desktop Application is unable to utilise Location Service data to automatically populate your location.
Indicator Purpose Private Use the toggle to turn on/off the Privacy marking on your note. Time & Date Adjust the time and date of the note. Protective Marking Mark your note in accordance with your agency guidelines “Protected”,
“Official Sensitive”, “Official” and “Unofficial” markings to enable
permission-based control of your note.IMM/DLM Classify your note in accordance with your agency guidelines “Legal
Privilege”, “Cabinet”, “Public Interest Immunity”, “Legislative Secrecy” and
“Personal Privacy” to enable permission-based control of your note.Unique Reference
NumberAssign reference number/symbol to your note. Incident Location Start typing the incident location for the note. You can select the
location/address from the drop down menu or enter free text.Event Tags Event tags can be used to quickly search for relevant notes.
Step 4: You can add a File/s or Audio Recording/s as an attachment to your note,
however if you do not wish to add an attachment, simply click the SAVE icon in the bottom right hand side of your screen and go to Step 9. - To add a file/s to your note, click ADD FILE and select the file you want to upload. To
confirm this is the file you want to upload, click the TICK icon to start the upload process. Once uploaded, Capture will display the uploaded file and provide pop up notification that the note has been saved.
Note: As part of Capture commitment to providing a transparent, accountable and authentic platform for regulated industry, once a file has been uploaded, it cannot be deleted. - To add an audio recording/s to your note, click ADD RECORDING. Capture
will automatically start the audio recording. To stop the recording, press the GREY SQUARE icon. - To review your recording, click the TICK icon once and your recording will playback. To delete
this recording, click the TRASH CAN icon.
To upload your recording, give the recording a meaningful file name an click the TICK icon to
start the upload process. Once uploaded, Capture will display the uploaded recording and provide a pop up notification that the note has been saved.
Your new note will appear in the navigation bar on the left hand side of the Native Desktop
Application.
